Welcome and thank you for visiting the first ever Mibugishiden Fanlisting! Mibugishiden is probably one of the best films made about the Shinsengumi and one of it's members back in 2003. It is a dramatic and very moving tale of Yoshimura Kanichirou's life as a father and husband, as a friend to both Saitou and Jiroemon and as a samurai for the Tokugawa (as a member of the Shinsengumi) and his own han "Nanbu". The story and performance was superb so certainly it's no wonder that this film whose theme revolved around loyalty and family garnered three awards in the Japanese Academy Awards for best picture (directed by Yojiro Takita), best lead actor (Kiichi Naki as Yoshimura Kanichirou) and best supporting role (Koichi Sato as Saitou Hajime).
